   Hall's poems were mainly on religious themes. He was also a surgeon at Maidstone, Kent (his impossibly long titles have been paraphrased and translated into modern English). Some of his publications: Certain Chapters from Proverbs the Psalms and Other Books of the Bible, 1549. A Metrical Version of Proverbs, Three Chapters of Ecclesiastes, and Certain Psalms, 1550. Commendatory English Verses Prefixed to Thomas Gale's "Manual of Surgery," 1563. A Posy in Form of a Vision, Against Devilish Practices, Including Astrology, 1563. The Court of Virtue, Containing Many Holy or Spiritual Songs, Sonnets, Psalms, Ballads, 1565. A Most Excellent and Learned Work of Surgery, 1565. A Very Fruitful and Necessary Brief Work of Anatomy, 1565. An Historical Expostulation: Against the Beastly Abusers, Both of Surgery, and Physic, in Our Time: With a Goodly Doctrine and Instruction, Necessary to Be Marked and Followed, of All True Surgeons, 1565. Some of his poems: "Job I," "Numbers 13," "Proverbs 30," "The Praise of Faith," "The Praise of Godly Love Out of 1 John 4."
